Because of recent changes in the JOBS Act law, direct investment in commercial real estate (CRE) now can be part of your portfolio. Selequity provides free tools for investors to explore, make and track direct investments with CRE sponsors.

Selequity’s platform makes it easy to invest directly with sponsors. And not to worry, all documentation and transactions are encrypted and secure. With each investment, you can track the offering’s performance, communicate with sponsors and access tax documents all from your Selequity portfolio dashboard.

How Does Selequity Decide Which Offerings to Post?

Selequity seeks out proven sponsors, evaluating their track record, geographic focus and expertise in specific property types.

Our Sponsor & Investment Opportunity Committee applies uncompromising selection criteria before posting any offering to our network of investors. In fact, we’re so selective that most deals don’t meet our vetting standards. Our thorough review includes:

  • Inspection of the sponsor’s experience
  • Past individual performance
  • Fundraising history
  • Operational proficiency
  • Compliance
  • Information security
  • Investor communications (e.g., timely K-1 delivery and monthly updates)
  • Sponsor’s analysis of the market, the offering’s economics and investment opportunity
  • Sponsor team member depth and succession planning

You've Decided to Get Started in Real Estate Investing. Now What?

When you’re ready to make an investment, you will be guided through a simple and secure process to verify your accreditation and e-sign the required documents followed with a counter-sign from the sponsor. (Selequity does not collect or record any of an investor’s personal financial information. Transaction information is shared only between the investor and the sponsor.)

Next, to fund your investment, you’ll work with your financial advisor, brokerage firm or bank to transfer monies to the sponsor using the wire instructions.

After the deal is funded as described in the offering documents, you will be notified by email that the offering is complete and your money has been invested in that specific deal.

Once you’ve invested in an offering, you can track your investment(s) on Selequity. Sponsors can use the Selequity dashboard to provide updates on performance and distributions, communicate with you and securely deliver tax documents.
